Faro-Gago Coutinho International Airport (FAO) is the main gateway to Faro and the wider Algarve, drawing visitors from around the world for the sunshine, beaches, shops, sights and restaurants. As the airport lies only about 4 km from the city centre, you will need transport for the short hop into town — and the public bus is one of the most affordable and comfortable ways to do it.

Buses offer a relaxed ride with dedicated luggage holds for suitcases and space on board for carry-ons. Travelling with oversized items? Check space first, as it can be limited.
The bus fare is significantly lower than the cost of a taxi or a rental car, making it the budget-friendly choice for getting into the city.
Journey time is only slightly longer than a taxi or car — around 20–30 minutes depending on where you get off and how busy the roads are.
Runs between the airport and Faro, calling at Forum Algarve, Montenegro and other stops around the city.
The pink line stops at several points across the city, with its final stop at Praia de Faro (the beach).
Several coach and bus companies also link the airport with stops across Faro and beyond. Review the timetables at the terminal to find the best match, and simply buy your ticket on the day of travel at the airport. Each service has space for your baggage and seating for you and your companions.
There is no train station at the airport, but you can take a bus or taxi to Faro’s central train station and pick up rail connections from there.
